Gustav won the Chef of the Year competition in 2010 and is one of the most successful chefs in Swedish gastronomy.
Trägårdh studied technical high school with a view to becoming an engineer but later trained as a chef at Barken Viking instead . Before starting his employment at Basement, he worked at Panorama hotel and Fiskekrogen, among other places. Most recently, he was a chef and co-owner of the Michelin Guide restaurant Sjömagasinet in Gothenburg. He was also a Chef of the Year in 2001 and then reached the semifinals. He won season three of Kockarnas kamp , which was broadcast on TV4 in the autumn of 2014. Recently, Trägårdh has competed in the oyster championship where he came in second place at the Swedish Championships in Grebbestad.
Now he will be taking his passion for cooking and showcasing it at his new restaurant Chang, an Asian Fusion restaurant located at the VB building at Volvo Cars Torslanda next to Polestar.
